FRED Engineering has been shortlisted, in Joint Venture with Politecnica, for an IDB-funded project in Guatemala for the “Detailed design and Technical, Economic, Environmental and Risk Assessment for the Project: Upgrading of the Road RD-BVE-18, Chitomax – Pacaní Section, Cubulco, Baja Verapaz”. As a matter of fact, the Joint Venture has successfully carried out similar assignments in the past in the region (i.e. Guyana and Belize).
The consultancy services aim at improving the rolling surface, starting at the exit of the village of Chitomax on Road RD-BVE-18 towards the community of Pacaní, Cubulco, until reaching the municipal seat of Cubulco, Baja Verapaz, where it intersects with the Departmental Road RD-BV-3, which connects the municipal seats of Rabinal, San Miguel Chicaj and the departmental seat of Salamá in the Baja Verapaz Department, considering at first the intervention for the expansion and improvement of the current road and determining the complementary works for the completion of the project. Furthermore, the consultancy aims to elaborate the horizontal and vertical geometric design, according to the typical section recommended by the traffic studies, including all characteristics and specifications, and adapting it as much as possible to the existing alignment. If this alignment complies with the design standards, the protection works must be considered to reduce the risk to which the project under study will be subjected in the operational stage, carry out the topographic survey of the boundaries (property limits) of the estates that will be affected by the construction of the project.
