FRED team in Pakistan to audit Multan – Sukkur motorway

This is the Stage 4 RSA (early opening) of a section of the motorway linking Peshawar and Karachi

FRED auditors are currently in Punjab, Pakistan, to carry out the Road Safety Audit Stage 4 of the Multan – Sukkur section (392 km) of the Peshawar – Karachi motorway.
FRED Engineering has already carried out all the previous audits, from the preliminary design to the pre-opening stage. This is the last stage of the procedure endorsed by the NHA (National Highway Authority) and takes place almost two years after the opening to traffic (the ongoing Covid pandemic has inevitably delayed this last stage).
This audit allows checking how the traffic is behaving and to what extent the project and the recommendations implemented have made this infrastructure safe.

The Peshawar – Lahore – Karachi motorway corridor is a vital link for the economy of the country and the region. It is in fact part of the CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor), an ambitious infrastructure development plan benefiting not only the two promoter countries, but also Central Asian countries as well as Iran and Afghanistan.
