Activities recently started in Lebanon for important technical assistance in the field of road safety. This is a project financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Council for Development & Reconstruction (CDR). The beneficiaries are the National Road Safety Council (NRSC) through its Secretariat (SNRSC) and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT).
The objective of the technical assistance is to put Lebanon on a clear path of reducing its number of road traffic fatalities and serious injuries. The areas of focus of the technical assistance are: i) the development of national norms and standards for road safety; ii) the development of a National Road Safety Master Plan and related Safe System Projects, and iii) building capacity in crash data management and road infrastructure safety management.
