Objective

The main objective of this assignment was to assess the safety of the National Highway 19 and other selected national highways in Vietnam. In particular, the technical assistance had the objective to give advice on additional safety measures that could save lives on project roads according to international best practices.

Description

This assistance was delivered in the form of Road Safety Audits (RSAs), iRAP baseline and Star Rating for Design (SR4D) assessments for projects roads, together with capacity building on road safety engineering, community engagement and communication of results activities, and other related activities. Advice was provided to ensure that road projects include road safety best practices.

The technical assistance encompassed the road safety assessment of NH19 and other selected national highways, including the definition of speed management strategies for critical road sections, the revision of motorcycle lane manual and guidelines and the review of bidding documents for construction works
