Objective

The main objective of the study was to establish a framework for an efficient crash data collection system on low-traffic roads in Sierra Leone on a pilot basis to aid the identification and understanding of the scale of road safety problem towards the implementation of strategic interventions for the reduction of crashes on such roads. The specific objectives were to set up a methodology for crash data collection using sample data on a pilot basis with relevant attributes and related protocols for the management of road safety on LVRs in Sierra Leone.
Develop and implement an electronic data management system for RTC data storage, analysis and retrieval for LVRs in Sierra Leone.

Description

The assistance included the development of a methodology for crash data collection using sample data on a pilot basis with relevant attributes and related protocols for the management of road safety on low-traffic roads in Sierra Leone and the development and implementation of an electronic data management system for crash data storage, analysis and retrieval.

Technology transfer and capacity building constituted a core aspect of the project. Mentorship of project counterpart staff from Sierra Leone was incorporated in all aspects of the study.
