Solutions for vulnerable road users |
Metro stations safety was assessed through Road Safety Audit techniques including verifications on safe infrastructure and accessibility, as well as design proposal for signage and infrastructure enhancements, identification and marking of Safe School paths; the assistance also included the preparation of an urban road safety handbook customized for the needs of Ecuador.
Road safety assessments have been accompanied with capacity building and communication activities aimed at increasing awareness on road users’ safety. Workshops, tools for road safety education in public schools, training to teachers and institutional train-of-trainers have been developed all along the project.
